FRINGE POSTER  ARTIST SUE NINHAM

Sue Ninham spent her childhood and teenage years living in Sydney and Melbourne. Her family moved to Adelaide in 1982. In 1983 she completed a Bachelor of Visual Communication, majoring in Illustration at the University of South Australia.

Upon graduating she returned to Sydney and worked as a freelance designer and illustrator for advertising, book and magazine publishing but returned back to Adelaide in 1997.

Ninham’s paintings show a strong 1950s influence. The artist was drawn to the 1950’s for her inspiration, having spent childhood summers in her grandparent’s house with memories of space-age splay-legged furniture, Parisian scened feature walls, fold away record players, patterned curtains and crazy paving. All this has imbued her work with a playful optimism.
