A very big welcome to Adelaide Fringe 2011.
I would like to acknowledge that this land is the country of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains region. Adelaide Fringe respects the traditional owners continuing cultural and spiritual connectedness with their country and we thank them for allowing us to share in this special place together.
This year’s program is packed full of jaw-dropping spectacle, memorable theatre and brilliant entertainment.
Your alternative King and Queen on the cover, who feature in the opening night parade, embody the spirit of the Fringe – they are different, imaginative, to some strange, to others playful and out of this world. This year I encourage everyone to experience something new and different and you could be the first to discover the “next big thing”.
Thank you to all those extraordinary companies, producers, venue managers and individual artists who with unrelenting energy have worked so hard to put on their shows. Now it’s up to all of us to get out, dive in and discover the vast range of exceptional experiences these artists have created.
For the first time we are delighted to present Fringe in the Mall, the central place to get a taste of the Adelaide Fringe, obtain information and purchase FringeTIX tickets.
With more than 750 Fringe events taking place in galleries, tents, theatres, old buildings, parks, laneways, squares and pubs all over the city, low ticket prices and free events, Adelaide is definitely the best place to be this summer. Come join the party!
